The Elephant and Castle Community Hub, based on the Upper Mall of the Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre (opposite Jenny’s Burgers) is now online and hosting free virtual wellness activities, fitness classes and arts & crafts workshops for local people.

We know that keeping the mind and body active is essential while you are in self-isolation so we have brought a host of wellness, fitness and arts & crafts activities online.

You can now access our timetable of activities from the comfort of your home. It also features information on the essential services that are still open in the shopping centre and local area.

  1. The Elephant and Castle Town Centre project team will be hosting its second information forum on Tuesday 6 October at 18.30 – 19.30. This will provides an overview of planned demolition activity in the coming months. In addition, there will be an opportunity to ask the project team questions you might have about the upcoming programme for the transformation of the Elephant and Castle town centre.   2. During this difficult period with the ongoing situation around COVID-19, we are encouraging all our contractors to assist the local communities in which we operate. As a result of this the Elephant and Castle Town Centre project team through Multiplex have already provided over 30,000 items of PPE to help assist the nation’s frontline essential workers within the borough. Supported by its fantastic supply chain, the team has provided masks, glasses, gloves, overshoes, overalls, hand sanitiser, wipes and surface spray.

  3. Covid-19 Mutual Aid UK is a group of volunteers supporting local community groups organising mutual aid throughout the Covid-19 outbreak in the UK. They focus on providing resources and connecting people to their nearest local groups, willing volunteers and those in need. To find the local groups in your area click here

  6. Co-Op in the Elephant and Castle shopping centre now has a dedicated shopping hour for people who are at higher risk or elderly (Mon-Sat 9-10am & Sun 10-11am).

  7. Iceland logo

    Iceland in the Elephant & Castle shopping centre will be participating in the chain’s national initiative to reserve 10am to midday on Wednesdays for shopping by the elderly and vulnerable. If you’re over the state pension age, self-isolating, disabled of vulnerable in some way, Iceland are also temporarily limiting online orders to help those who are unable to get to their stores to buy their essential products.

  8. FareShare

    Fare Share is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 17 charitable food organisations. Fare Share takes good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and redistribute it to almost 11,000 frontline charities and community groups.   9. The Trussel Trust. Stop UK Hunger.

    Trussell Trust support a nationwide network of food banks and together they provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.   10. Dad's House charity logo

    Dads House a charity supporting single fathers, mothers and families, are  supporting the community in Elephant & Castle by ensuring local residents can receive essentials from a newly-opened food bank. The food bank will operate initially on Tuesdays and Fridays 11am – 4pm at E&C shopping centre, first floor. They are also looking for volunteers. To donate, get in touch here

For those interested on how, when and where you can help vulnerable people in your local community, whether it be by donating tinned goods to a local food bank, offering to take your neighbours dog for a walk while they are stuck indoors, or just simply lending a listening ear to someone who would just like to chat.
