What materials you need

We recommend that your child has access to  coloured pencils, pens, crayons or chalk, child safety scissors, paper and card in different colours or white, watercolour paint if you have some.

Glue- PVA or a glue stick.   Or you can mix one part flour with one part of water ( for example 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 cup water) until you get a thick glue-like consistency. Add a bit more water if it’s too thick. Mix well with a spoon to get rid of all the lumps.

Any decorations you have at home- sparkles, sequins, buttons, foam shapes.  But again don’t worry if you don’t have any, you can always make your own.

Special Items week by week- These are great to have if possible but are not necessary to enjoy the classes!

Friday 03rd July-Patterns and Symmetry

-Look at different types of patterns- can we paint/draw our own repeating pattern

-Using our names create a Symmetry Monster. This involves painting our name on one half of a piece of paper then folding it over to create a   symmetrical print.  Then add eyes/feathers/claws whatever we like to make it into a monster.

-Write our names using binary code.

Friday 10th July-Forces and Reaction

-Painting and drawing with different forces to make different tones/depth of colour

-Make a climbing robot- extra items needed are string, a straw and paper clips.

Friday 17th July-Watch Me Grow

-Flower paintings- dandelion clock finger paintings/drawings

-Make a mini greenhouse to grow a bean- extra items needed are a sealable plastic bag, a dried bean or seed and cotton wool or paper towels.

-Create the outside of your greenhouse- cutting out a window so you can see your seed grow.
